This photo was taken 360 degrees on a beautiful sunny morning. You can see the stunning beauty of the City of Rio de Janeiro, with its beaches and mountains that draw the outline of this piece of paradise that is the wonderful city blessed by God. Of course, remembering that God is Brazilian.

Surrounded by vegetation characteristically tropical, with remnants of Atlantic Forest, boasts native species elsewhere in the Brazilian coastal vegetation are already extinct, and also rare species such as the orchid "laelia lobata" which flourishes only in two locations on the planet: the hill of Sugar Loaf and the Gávea, both in Rio de Janeiro. The Brazilian mountain with the greatest number of climbing tracks (up to 1997 there were 38), the Sugar Loaf is visited daily by hundreds of climbers, mountaineers and ecologists Brazilians and foreigners can enjoy the sight of this picture 360 degrees around you.

In addition to tourist and ecological landmark of the city of Rio de Janeiro, the complex has been an important cultural center. In the 70s it housed in the Urca Mountain amphitheater - called "Green Shell" - musical shows that have launched great talents of Brazilian music, an audience of up to 50 thousand people per year. The Shell Green was also the scene of fashionable carnival, between 1977 and 1987, as the famous "Sugar Loaf Carnival Ball". Currently the amphitheater is used for art exhibitions, business conferences, cocktails, product launches, dinners and parties.
There are several versions about the origin of the name. One of the most popular shows as responsible for the Portuguese.

During the height of the cultivation of sugar cane in Brazil (XVI and XVII century), after being squeezed sugar cane juice and boiled and refined, sugar blocks were placed in a conical form of clay (to transport them to Europe), called "sugar loaf". The similarity of the cliff in Rio with that form of clay have originated the name and is perfect for 360 pictures of beauty that gives visitors and looking far too.

The name Sugar Loaf became world famous, from the second half of the nineteenth century, when the beauty of Sugarloaf was exalted by the drawings and engravings of French graphic artist Jean Baptiste Debret and designer and German painter Johann Moritz Rugendas.

But first, the place name was spelled several ways: in the Tupi language, was called "Pau-nh-açuquã", meaning "high hill, isolated and pointed." The French who invaded the Rio de Janeiro called "Pot de beurre". Since the Portuguese settlers called "Bread Sucar." The postcard has also been written with "ss" in accordance with the old spelling of the Portuguese language and several attempts to 360 pictures had been made but only now has this up you can really appreciate all the beauty that one sees from above .

Figures such as scientist Albert Einstein and former U.S. president John Kennedy have gone through the Sugar Loaf cable car, besides the many artists who performed at the Morro da Urca, mainly in the 80s. In 1977, Steven McPeak American tightrope walking on the cable from the cable car between the Morro da Urca and Sugar Loaf, holding a metal rod as a counterweight.
A sequel, "007 Against the Death Rocket" with Roger Moore as James Bond, filmed in 1979, helped promote the city and abroad.
In 1990, a tribute to driver Ayrton Senna exhibited at Morro da Urca a Formula 1 car. And more recently, in 2004, the Olympic Torch for the Athens Olympics and the Olympic Torch of 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro visited the Sugar Loaf.

  1. Very nice image and how to open them. Everything is beautiful with the image

Quick - It was fast and had no problems
KRP - Very fast and without problems, like the initial blur waiting to complete loading.
Lucid - Fast, but problems with the audio, which most pleases as a means of observing.
FPP - The slowest and without problems

After being opened for the first time are very quick to open up again.

    MAC OS 10.4.11 with Firefox/2.0.0.14

  2. Show ball mounted images in KRP and FPP. The sound was very good in both tb. In Lucid sound seems to be very depressed or very small sample, muffled, dull. Personally I prefer the interface of the PMF, which gives us more information on loading, despite the KRP be cleaner. For those who have made iPix with the Coolpix 4500 is jaw-dropping quality of your "fotobolhas"! Hehehe.

    Hug!

  3. Ayrton, in all versions the sound is OK. The Lucid is actually working in Safari 3.1.1 (MacIntel) but Lucid is what the movement is less smooth. Since the FPP is what seems to load faster. Just so you know. :-)

    Hugs and congratulations friend!

    Mark

  4. Congratulations! I thought everyone was too beautiful to see the river as well. Technically we can not say anything, just applaud and admire. abrazos, kisses, and Lou ig

  5. Ayrton, I encantan tus panoramic. I hope the hacerlas llegar algun day like you. All of them displays a excepcion LUCID, funcionaron perfectamente. Lucid is slowly bad position y in the image show previsualización. Los demas prefectamente. I congratulate you.

    Carlos

  6. Great Ayrton trabajo, y buen exposición balance of color, in practice it hace la duda that genius al. Buena Flash comparación among viewers, except "Lucid" muy lennntamente that load (Safari), los demas funcionan muy bien, on the whole PPF. QT that sigue siendo un viejo guy that works to 100%. ¿Has probado con la versión of "Pano2VR"?

    Luis

  7. Great Ayrton! This is the home of the 360. Glad to have someone with his talent and capacity in Brazil. Ability to unite the artistic eye acquired and established after many years of career in photography, with modern technology, research, constant study and complete absence of laziness to make the best of your images. And how good your work ... Dude, congratulations, heart. Success more than deserved. Outside Lucid, which did not like the sound quality, all others are excellent. In particular the KRP, so I said Pepe. Hugs. Paoli.

  9. Kia Ora Ayrton,
For me, on an old P4 with hyperthreading XP Pro, KRP Gave me the smoothest and most convenient view. Could I use my mosue wheel to zoom with.

    Congratulations for the work.
As already mentioned, the sound has a considerable loss in version LUCID.
The faster here was Quicktime, KRP a little longer and RPP almost as fast as Quicktime. I liked the feature of hot spots, but just noticed in Quicktime and almost went unnoticed. Has on others too?

Great idea, provides a panoramic beauty of Rio, mainly in the photo that gets the Sugar Loaf, Corcovado, Niteroi, Copacabana ....
On the other hand, scares, see the degradation of our forests for the development of slums and lack of attitude of the rulers.
